words from a control freak
My name is Holley and I am a control freak. The first step to improving is admitting you have a problem, right? I'm one of those people who likes to have my whole life planned out hour by hour, or else I'll get nothing done. I have the perfect image in my mind of everything I want to happen, and if it doesn't happen that way it freaks me out.
Well if you don't know me, know that I am a big coffee drinker. I'm stressed? Coffee. Depressed? Coffee. Happy as can be? Coffee! And my very favorite coffee mug has this quote on it: It is what it is.
Now this is an awesome quote for anyone. It reminds me that in most situations, there's nothing you can do to change them so you just need to accept that and move on. But as a Christian, it means so much more to me than that. Whenever I'm having one of those days where I'm dealing with stress because something in my day went outside the lines, I just think of this quote and remember that there is a bigger picture than what I'm dealing with right then. It is what it is because God made it that way! Every minute of your day- every second- is part of God's intricate plan for you. If something in your agenda doesn't happen, it's because God didn't want it to. He probably had something else in mind... something even better.
One of the main things I tell myself going throughout my day is to let go and let God. After all, He knows what He's doing in my life... I sure don't! He constantly keeps me grounded when I can't do it myself.
Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you;
he will never let the righteous be shaken.
Psalm 55:22
